BLEHH.

So I had an apt with my financial adviser at apu on Tuesday. Turns out im not eligible for any sort of grants because my parents make exactly the amount that's considered to be "eligible to pay for college." Too bad school doesn't know that my parents help support my sisters and my aunt as well, leaving us pretty poor and unable to afford college tuition. :|

So pretty much my advisor said I will be paying around $16,000 PER SEMESTER. Which is pretty ridiculous. My college debt will never be paid off. I told her I was considering transferring to Fullerton, since its a cal-state and would be less expensive for my undergraduate, and she said she honestly thought that was a better route considering I would be making pretty much nothing as far as $ when I start social work and will never be able to pay of the high loans. She said she would never want to turn a student away from APU, but thought that If I were her daughter, she would never want me to be paying college finances till I was in my 90's.

SO whats the plan of action as of now? Transferring to Fullerton. Not going to lie, I am pretty disappointed. I liked APU especially the Christian enviornment. In no other school would my class 'pray' before an exam as a whole. Or would my financial adviser say "well honey, God will guide you towards what is best for you'. Or when my teacher would say "Have a blessed day!" at the end of every class. That is what I loved about APU.

My advisor said I could transfer back for my masters degree, that it would be a lot cheaper once I go for my masters, especially since it would only be a year, but for now go to Fullerton for my bachelors. It just sucks. Going to a new school, a much bigger and liberal school is not something I am looking forward to. APU was my dream college in High School. Once I got in I was elated.

I am trying to see the lighter side of the situation. Fullerton will be about $6,000 per semester (not including FAFSA). They have a good SW program (although its not as nice as the one at APU). And that's pretty much the only ups I can think of haha :(
