Stop trying to figure out where you’re going, and just enjoy where you’re at.

I went to the I AM workshop this past Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting, much more 'new-age' than a normal Catholic retreat but I still liked it. I am not sure if I would recommend it to someone who isn't looking for a 'discovering the power of self' type of retreat. I was expecting more of a ' how to strengthen your faith' type but it was still good. There is only so much of an impact you can make on a person with only about 5-6 hours of retreat.
Here's a quick rap up of what I did learn though.

1. Live in the NOW. Don't dwell on the past and don't worry about the future. just BE. we are human BEings and have to live in the present. Enjoy every moment and live it happily with the grace of God.

2. You don't need to 'accomplish' anything to be happy. Focusing on a goal and completing it should not be something you strive for in life. She gave us the example of going to college and graduating. You can't expect that finishing that goal WILL make you happy. You have to live EVERY moment happy. Not for any sort of accomplishments.

and last but not least:

3. Don't forget WHO you are. Your strengths, the good things that make you the special person YOU are.

This is up lifting but sometimes its super hard to stop trying to figuer out where we're going and just enjoy where we're at...it takes alot of constant mind check and sometimes life just gets the best of us, well the best of me, if you know what i mean. I really like the part that said "you dont have to accomplish anything to be happy. foucusing on a goal and completing it should not be something you strive for in life", but then again society makes us think that in order to be somebody you should focus on a goal and completing it should be something we strive for or else… but eeff that we are not going to live forver to take anything for granted. If something comes along, it comes along if not why do we have to put our happiness at stake? so I completly agree :)
p.s I still wanna go to one of those retreats.
